This quote has evolved over time into the quote you see above. The orginal Shakespeare Quote is: "Though this be madness, yet there is method in 't." --From Hamlet (II, ii, 206)

For problem 3.3 I didn’t get how we were supposed to answer part A. I understood that you had to value of X put I didn’t get how we were going to find that out by using the graphing calculators.

I found that 3.3was very confusing. It was just confusing, I did not understand what they meant when the book said things like find the solution to this equation -8= 5x -3. What is the solution? it at first just blew right by me I had to re-read it over and over to get what it meant, it was very uncomfortable. When the book said question d1 it said how does -8= 5x -3 help you find the pair that fits y=5x-3. Out of all of them I would say that problem 3.3 was the most confusing of them all
In 3.3 I had a lot of trouble on part C. I didn’t get what it was asking me to do. Please help me R.B.

when the question asks what the solution to -8=5x-3, it usually means find the value of x. i would solve it likee this
-8=5x-3
+3=5x+3
_________
-5=5x
-5/5=-1
5/5=1
since 1x=x, x=-1

I am having trouble in taking equations
(Hard equations) into graphs like in problem 3.3’s follow up on question c because I don’t really understand how to graph the equation.

2. I was wondering what the order is to solving expressions. I know that multiplication comes before division, and after is addition subtraction. I also know that when you are solving that parenthesis comes before everything, but I want to know about the other things I am solving in the problems, and where they are in the list.
We did class work on this, and it was a worksheet about variables, expressions, and properties for 1-2.

My first area I need help with for the assessment next week is the equations that you had to list in 3.3+fup. They were confusing and a bad idle of math problems, and I was confused when using the graphing calculator and putting them on there with the equations were confusing. I did not get the questions, and I did not get the answers that Michael helped me get either. I really struggled in this area because I did not get how to put the equations in the calculators, and was off track on how to answer questions. What did solutions have to do with the equations, and why did the equations have no variables in them?

i had trouble on 3.3 C. i didn't understand what it was asking me to do. what i thought it meant is to solve it showing my steps. im not sure if that is correct. it would really help if someone could tell me how they answered that explaining why.
thanks,

I would like to know what part C in problem 3.3 means. Is 3.3 telling me to use the equation to find my answer to the problem I’m trying to figure out.
In 3.3 follow-up I had problems with 2. Here is the problem I didn’t get it at all, In part B of problem 3.3, you found the solution to the equation 6.8=-2. Based on the solution, what coordinate pair do you know must fit the equation y=-2x? How is this coordinate pair related to the graph of y=-2x? R.B.

On problem 3.3 I’m having trouble with problem c the question goes.
Find solutions for the equations -8+= 5x and 6.8=-2x by reasoning about what the equation mean rather than by using graphs or tables. Explain how you found the solutions. I’m having trouble understanding what the problem is asking and I also don’t really remember how to solve equations.
AH to NH
to graph an equation, the x variable is the x coordinate. the solution for the problem, or the y value, is the y coordinate. it helps if you start out by making a table for any number to replace x. the table will be a big help.

Okay, so for problem 3.3 A1, you are not supposed to do this with a the graphing calculator, and you should be able to do this in your head. Remember, it gave us The equations to figure out which one you needed to figure out the value of x. EXAMPLE:
since the answer was iii, y=5x-3, and the originasl equation was -8 = 5x-3, and you can figure this out now, becaiuse you can use the process of elimination by plugging in numbers for x.

In problem 3.3, and follow up I didn’t really understand letter C. It says to find the solution of an equations mean rather than by using graphs or tables. WHAT?!?!?!...It’s probably really hard to understand for me because when u (Ms. Leckman) started to explain the equations that’s where you lost me, in other words I didn’t really get the x and y variables, and the negatives and positives. Then I went to go solve it and I was clueless!!!

I do not understand how to find the value of x when they replace y with a number. For example, when they said what number is x to make the statement -8 = 5x – 3 true?

i don not understand 3.3 beacuse of the value of x. i need help understanding how to find the value in an equation. heres an example you could help me with. 6.8= -2x

The key is PEMDAS or please excuse my dear aunt sally
P-parenthesis
E-exponents
M-multiplication
D-division
A-addition
S-subtraction
And that is the order you solve in.
B.B. to B.J.
To find x what I do is to divide the Number by the answer to find for x.
In 3.3 Follow Up, I get how to solve the equations, but I'm relly not good on like writing about it or how you found your awnsers?
Any tips on helping me!!!

The way I did problem c is that I tried to solve the equations then when i solved each one i explained the solution.
