5.1 was not as perplexing as 3.4 but still kind of tough. It was hard doing the formula. Like if the stair’s run is 10 inc and the rise is 5 inc. are you suppose to do run divided by rise or rise divided by run. It was also tough to remember what the total height should be. I know it is rise plus run but that is just because I read it in the book right now.

I didn’t understand part of this because mostly none of the specs for the length meet. In the book, it said the specs for the length had been 17 through 17.5 but none met the specs.
I also didn’t know how to find the ratio and which to divide by which.

to find the ratio you have to divide the rise by the run. this will give you the ratio to the steps.

They did not meet the specs but they were close and there is no answer that they don’t meet the spec’s but to find the ratio it is the rise divided by the run.

So I was reading about the slope of the line and I kind of get what they are saying.
I get the formula but not how to do the formula.
In the example it’s talking about changes. Like
There was a change of 2 and a change of 3. So in the end the slope of your line is 2/3.
Some one teach me how to use the formula please

The formula to finding the slope is
slope= Vertical change
---------------
Horizontal change
The rest..i am just as lost as you are:)

To find the total of the stairs you don't do any division you add the rise and run together.

Finally, I didn’t understand the problems in 5.1+fup. I did not get the rise and run concept and dividing them to get the height, or something like that, and how stairs are related to graphs overall. Well, I don’t get these areas of math, and will struggle in the assessment on these areas. So why do we need to divide the rise over run? Why in that order?

In problem 5.1 it half way makes sense. I do understand the rise and run, but I don’t understand the graphing part. In the book it says positive and negative slope??? Also it shows it graphed and it says change of +3 change of +2, and then it goes to negative slope and everything is the same except for change of -2. How come the change of 3 is the same, but not the change of 2????? sm

I can help with part of your question to find the ratio you do the rise divided by the run.
